Students Working in Lab

EBS MakerSpace

A Part of the Technology Academy

Our Maker Space Engineering Lab is a place where students develop their complex problem solving skills, learn to think outside the box and practice working in a team, all critical skills for 21st century jobs. In the Maker Space students may engage in an engineering challenge, such as who can build the tallest tower out of straws, paperclips and tape. They might also use our high tech equipment such as our sprout computers and our 3D printers. Each grade level has adopted a a robotics program which helps them develop their higher level thinking skills by learning how to code. For example, our third grade students all build their very own Piper computer and then code it. Our students are leaving EBS with a solid foundation in coding and problme solving.

Each grade level uses a robotics program to teach coding:

TK and Kindergarten: Cubelets

Grade 1: Ozobots

Grade 2: Sony Koov

Grade 3: Piper Computer Kits

Grade 4: Sphero

Grade 5: Advanced Sony Koov
