Welcome to 5th Grade in Room 155!
Hello EBS Families,
I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the EBS Penguin Colony!
My teaching journey began in January 2014 at Pacific Beach Elementary, where I had the joy of teaching fourth and/or fifth grade for eleven years. During my time there, I was honored to be named Site Teacher of the Year four times—recognition that means so much to me because the classroom is truly where I’m meant to be. Fun fact: I was also a "Penguin" at PBE… Once a Penguin, always a Penguin!
My path to San Diego started at San Diego State University, where I proudly competed for the Division I Women’s Water Polo team. While at SDSU, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, a multiple subject teaching credential, and later, a Master’s in Educational Leadership along with a Preliminary Administrative Credential. I've stepped into the classroom—and haven’t looked back since.
My teaching philosophy centers on the belief that all children can learn and grow when given the right time, tools, and support. I strive to create a student-led environment where curiosity thrives and learning becomes a collaborative adventure. By using engaging, hands-on experiences and nurturing a growth mindset, I aim to inspire my students to become resilient, adaptable, and passionate lifelong learners.
I’m so excited to begin this new chapter with the incredible community at EBS Elementary School. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!
Warmly,
Mrs. Ashley Erickson
